We recently had the pleasure of “chatting” with the lovely Zoe Gilpin of the DIY Decorator. A qualified Interior Decorator and self confessed lover of all things interiors and homewares, Zoe’s eye for detail and knack with a mood board has us stalking her insta feed. Here’s what she had to say!
My style is:
Individual. Natural/neutral. A blend of new and second hand natural pieces with plenty of texture and pops of greenery.
I find inspiration:
On social media mostly these days! I love my daily dose of interior inspiration from Instagram and Pinterest.
I use colour to:
Add interest and compliment furniture pieces.
Form or Function. Why?
Function is so important as it’s the whole reason behind purchasing something! If it’s doesn’t function properly, there’s not a lot to point to having it.
Styling advice I live by:
Less is more! When you feel that a room is finished, take a step back and usually you’ll see that there’s something that’s not needed in the space. Take it out and it will be perfect!
Top home styling tips:
Create your own style. Don’t follow trends. By doing what you love within your own home, you will always be happy with it.
Top tips for buying the perfect rug:
Save your pennies and invest in a quality rug which will save you in the long run! Ensure you are purchasing the right size rug for the space. Using a wrong size rug will have the whole room being out of proportion.
What is your go to Six Fourteen Rug?
Edgecliff silver. Such a stunning design that works for many different interior styles and areas of the Home.
