My style is:
I don’t really think my style slots in to one particular type, I love a bit of a mix! Is coastal/scandi/natural a style!? That’s what I’d be!
I find inspiration:
I could browse Pinterest for days, it really is the best way to determine your interior design style and find what you like. In saying that, I really love being able to physically see and touch things! I work in the building industry and love checking out the new display homes. I think walking through and physically feeling out a space, examining textures and comparing colours and materials sparks so many ideas and inspiration for your own spaces. Even if it’s not 100% your style, you’d be surprised at what you end up loving and can easily tweak to suit your home.
I use colour to:
Add a bit of life to my neutral decor! It’s no secret I love a light, bright and raw interior- but it’s important to add little pops of colour so it doesn’t look too stark. Colour doesn’t necessarily have to be something bright, it’s all in the suttle details. A slight textured variation like a cushion, or a small addition like a candle holder is all you need if your main theme is neutral.
Form or Function. Why?:
Ooh this is tricky! I feel like that cute little Mexican girl in the taco add “why can’t we have both” haha. I’m a bit of a planner and like to make intentional choices so I would have to agree with the experts and say form follows function. It’s important to have a functional space with decor to compliment!
Styling advice I live by:
If you’re just starting out, or even if you’re a pro- don’t forget this rule.. Style in 3’s! It’s guaranteed to look great every time. You want a small item like a trinket dish, a medium item like a candle and a large such as a vase. Group them together, add some textured dried florals, your fave earrings and pop them on a designer book. It’ll look amazing!
Top home styling tips:
Do things slowly! Don’t fall in to the trap of trying to furnish and decorate your home in full straight away. Take your time to consider each piece, save up for those more expensive but timeless items and only buy things you really love. Otherwise, in the long run you’ll end up spending more on things you don’t like anymore or that are out of style. Make Pinterest folders, create mood boards and plan out each space so you know exactly what’s on your shopping list.
Top tips for buying the perfect rug:
Make sure it fits correctly! You want to have at least all front legs of your lounge on the rug if it’s a living room, or enough space for your feet to land on the rug when you get out of bed if it’s in the bedroom. You also want to choose a colour or texture that compliments the furniture and other pieces in the space. Even if you’re choosing a bold statement piece, you still want it to tie in to some other features!
What is your go to Six Fourteen Rug?:
I’m a bit biased because I have this one, but I’m obsessed with the Bowral in white. It’s beautiful, simple and will compliment almost any space!
