There is just something about April that we love. Perhaps it’s all the public holidays, or all the chocolate you can eat or maybe even because it provides the chance to start introducing layers to our homes. But what makes this April even better is that we got to invite the lovely Chloe from Designs by Chloe to take part in our Style Files Blog. This Mama of one, with two diplomas in Interior Design and Decoration, plus years of experience working in the lighting and furniture industry, really is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to transforming your home. Here’s what Chloe had to say.
My style is:
Modern meets classic (I have a mixture of styles in my home including scandi and mid century).
I find inspiration:
In architecture, nature and other people’s homes.
I use colour to:
Add personality to a space.
Form or Function. Why?:
Function first. Looking pretty is great but if it doesn’t work, it’s not very well done.
Styling advice I live by:
Consider how you use your space. Your home is a reflection of you, not others.
Top home styling tips:
Don’t base your style just on the latest trends. Look into a variety of local homewares stores, you can pick up some unique pieces there.
Top tips for buying the perfect rug:
Measure your space and if in doubt, go larger. Consider the feel of the rug, you’ll be stepping on it every time you get off the couch.
What is your go to Six Fourteen Rug?:
Lately it’s the Southbank Grey Ivory Wool Rug, so versatile!
