July sees us chatting all things interiors, styling and rugs with the gorgeous Alex Williams of Williams Way Interiors. Alex is an SA based Mum of two little cuties who does interior design and styling for both homes and businesses. Her insta feed @williamswayinteriors is equal parts interiors inspo, inspiring quotes, gorgeous family pics and great giggles – girlfriend loves a reel! Here’s what she had to share with us.

My style is:

My style is edgy minimalist or holiday vibes. Though being an interior stylist, I rarely get to do exactly what I want to do haha. I always love the finished look though.

I find inspiration:

I find my inspiration from destinations mainly, Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Greece etc Other interiors designers, of course Pinterest & Instagram.

I use colour to:

I use colour to make a space pop and create a wow factor.

Form or Function.  Why?:

Ooh good question.. I think Form & Function need to go hand in hand. I certainly don’t think function is more important than form. It’s just as important to me that it looks aesthetically pleasing.

Styling advice I live by:

1^st would be Choose items you absolutely love, no matter what comes and go with the trends. If you choose items you love, you’ll love them for years. 2^nd would be make sure what you are purchasing fits into your overall mood board. You may love a certain green chair but if your moodbaord is saying hamptons. It’s not going to work.

Top home styling tips:

Different heights! When styling the tables, shelves, benches etc. Clustering décor items in different heights is a great tip.

Top tips for buying the perfect rug:

Again, make sure it fits in the theme you want your home to be. Map out the size on your floor with tape, don’t guess. I am a big advocate for the bigger the rug the better. Rugs create zones in the home. Super important styling product.

I love the Cooma Cream Modern Tassel Wool Polyester Rug 😍
