Recently we had the absolute pleasure of hearing from the gorgeous Jessi Eve Deakin – Interior Stylist. Living on the beautiful Coal Coast Jessi Eve offers her styling services Australia wide and even internationally. A look through @jessi.eve is like flipping through your favourite interiors magazine, with beautiful textures, neutral colour palettes with subtle touches of colour, inspiring spaces and lots and lots of white. It has us dreaming of getaways in gorgeous spaces, far from the realities of every day life!
My style is:
coastal minimalist with a natural bohemian influence
I find inspiration:
in the most random places.
I use colour to:
evoke a particular feeling whether it be calming, energetic, playful, moody, bold, soothing etc.
Form or Function. Why?:
A balance of both with the decider being the intended purpose within the space I’m creating. Some spaces can lend themselves to more aesthetically-driven decisions than functional and vice versa.
Styling advice I live by:
Cohesion is key. Even in an eclectic space, there are subtle common threads that connect all elements together to create harmony.
Top home styling tips:
Consider the space as a whole whenever you’re bringing in new pieces. Consider how an item of that size, shape and colour will affect the other elements in the space.
Top tips for buying the perfect rug:
Ensure you’re choosing the right sized rug first and foremost. All too often I see rugs that are too small for a space. You want the rug to ground a space by connecting different elements of the room and also be proportionate to the overall floor space.
What is your go to Six Fourteen Rug?:
I have the Byron Bay 4 White Black Moroccan Shag Rug and the Kununurra Ivory Black Tribal Jute Rug in my own home and have used them in projects as well!
I love their rich texture and neutral base colour with a hint of black through a Moroccan-inspired pattern.
